PDRM Big Day

Today the PDRM had their 200th celebrations at Dataran Merdeka. I saw it on the news earlier ... it was okay la .. with all the pomp and pageantry.

The Star had a few good stories about them today. Among them ...
1) IGP request raise
2) Tales of Survival
3) Old Cop Tales

No 1) I am all for it. Their job is thankless
No 2 ) A note indeed, but the picture that was used was not convincing. Drinking while sitting on the floor, but did you notice the tv and furniture ?
No 3 ) I salute you sirs....

There are bad cops and good cops, admittedly. And I had a fair share of both of em, let us give them benefit of the doubt. I am sure there are more good than bad ones. I like what this writer said in his letter about PDRM.

To the ones who do really serve, Terima Kasih tuan :-)

ps / Gerak Khas cops actually exist .. on the tv that is :D

Having a 'Popular' IGP is good for Image/PR-wise but what is missing is the IPCMC. We as citizens need to know our rights when we're being approach by coppers, no matter they're 'good' or bad' ones.

Remember T.Adnan told the press all bloggers are bad? As leaders, they generalised every blogger has 'hidden' agendas against the Garmen. Shouldn't they give us the benefit of a doubt too?

I support any attempts/proposals to lift our law enforcement officers from the gutter with salary increments/benefits/more qualified officers/ etc and to work towards that, there should be a SOP which could be understand by ordinary folk like you and me.

Do you know a normal(blue-uniformed) copper can't arrest you for Traffic offenses?
Whether it's true or not, I'm not sure but I learned from man on the street. see what i meant?

Good day to you.

Mob, the IPCMC is actually long overdue. The way I see it, the Govt needs the PDRM to stay in the government and thus has been protecting them from all criticisms, true or untrue. The us against them mentality, which was used, was effective in getting the police on their side. Lo and behold, comes the IPCMC which the Govt backed. It is easy why to see the PDRM protested against it. Their argument with Govt goes somewhere along the line of, " After years of doing your dirty work, you suddenly turn against us " ... that is why, I believe that a community approach against PDRM would help, instead of looking at them as just government servants.
